Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) becomes the sixth Republican to officially enter the 2024 presidential race. Scott, the only Black Republican in the U.S. Senate, is touting his inspiring backstory and the conservative credentials he has built over a decade on Capitol Hill. Whether that will be enough to vault him over the other non-Trump candidates and challenge the former president himself for the GOP nomination is very much in question.

George Washington University faculty experts are available to provide analysis and commentary on Sen. Scott’s presidential campaign.

Todd Belt, director of the Political Management master’s program at the GW Graduate School of Political Management, is an expert on the presidency who can offer extensive insight into the 2024 race for the White House.

Matt Dallek is a professor at the GW Graduate School of Political Management and the author of the new book “Birchers: How the John Birch Society Radicalized the American Right.” Professor Dallek studies the American conservative movement and can explore Sen. Scott’s unique place in Republican politics.

Danny Hayes, professor of political science, is an expert on campaigns and elections who can examine Sen. Scott’s potential path to the 2024 Republican nomination through a field of candidates that will likely grow in the coming weeks.
