Newswise — Montclair, NJ (October 1, 2020) – Mountainside Medical Center and the Montclair Department of Health and Human Services launched Don’t Bug Me, their annual public awareness campaign aimed at flu prevention, today. This year, the campaign has expanded to include how to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Mountainside and the Montclair Department of Health target three main audiences during the campaign – schools, employers and the general public. Creative materials designed specifically for these audiences are free and available for download from the Mountainside Medical Center website: www.mountainsidehosp.com/dontbugme.
School-aged children, specifically elementary students, are the primary target of Don’t Bug Me because of their propensity to transport the viruses.
The following list includes steps that will or have been taken to roll out this year’s campaign:
- Educational materials geared towards children, all tied together with a colorful cartoon character bug named Louie Achooee have been developed. The materials include a cartoon video, coloring and fact sheets, stickers and instructional guides for elementary aged students, with simple, direct messages to teach children how to prevent spreading the flu and COVID-19.
- The Don’t Bug Me website features trivia and “gross” facts about the flu and COVID-19.
- Mountainside Medical Center will deliver all the materials to interested schools and childcare centers at no cost.
- Web links to download free materials, including posters for schools and businesses, restroom signage, coloring sheets, video and other content are available at mountainsidehosp.com/dontbugme.
