David Brannegan is the Interim Director of Argonne's Decision and Infrastructure Sciences division and is available to speak with the press about assessing damages associated with natural disasters like Hurrican Florence.
Brannegan's expertise includes:

- Resiliency assessments
- Infrastructure assessments
- Modeling and simulation of natural disasters
Brannegan previously served as Director of Argonne’s Risk and Infrastructure Science Center (RISC). During his tenure at Argonne, Mr. Brannegan has led a variety of work-for-others programs for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), including a comprehensive effort to prioritize critical infrastructure based on criticality, near-real-time analysis of threats to infrastructure assets, and continued analysis of systemic infrastructure dependencies.
Brannegan has considerable program management, policy, and leadership experience in the non-profit, for-profit, and government sectors. Prior to his role as Center Director at Argonne, he was a Branch Chief at DHS. In that capacity, he oversaw the design, development, and implementation of more than 20 individual technical assistance programs that enhanced State and local preparedness capabilities nationwide. Dave also co-founded the Fusion Process Technical Assistance program with the US Department of Justice. Other previous positions involved conducting international counter-proliferation analysis for Computer Sciences Corporation, as well as assessment of multi-lateral export control and US – European relations for the Henry L. Stimson Center, a DC-based think tank.
Brannegan received a Bachelor’s degree in political science from the College of the Holy Cross and a Master’s degree in International Relations from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. In 2013, Mr. Brannegan successfully completed the Strategic Laboratory Leadership Program at the Booth School of Business, University of Chicago.
