Dr. David C. Marlett, Department of Finance, Banking and Insurance at Appalachian State University, can discuss the impact of hurricanes and other disasters on the insurance industry. Marlett holds Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Insurance Institute of America (IIA) professional designations.
Dr. Geri A. Miller, Department of Human Development and Psychological Counseling at Appalachian State University, is a volunteer psychologist with the American Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Services and is helping train mental health professionals to respond to the needs of the survivors of Hurricane Katrina. She provided counseling support to survivors of the Sept. 11 attack in New York City.
