Newswise — Innovation leaders will educate the 112th Congress about innovation at the 2011 Innovation Coalition Fly-In Meeting. Lawmakers and their staffs will be briefed about the innovation process and why innovation is so important in creating a thriving economy.

"By creating communities of innovation, and spurring more start-up firms, we can efficiently create private sector jobs, drive economic growth and reclaim our legacy as the world's center of innovation," said Brian Darmody, a member of the Innovation Coalition, University of Maryland Associate Vice President of Economic Development, and Immediate Past President of the Association of University Research Parks.

Senator Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) and Dr. Phillip Singerman, Associate Director for Innovation and Industry Services, U.S. Commerce Department, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will speak along with members of the Innovation Coalition.
