Newswise — Chicago (July 21, 2014): The Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association’s (HOPA) 2nd Annual Oncology Pharmacy Practice Management Program will be taking place at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare, September 19-20, 2014 in Rosemont, IL. This program is designed to guide oncology pharmacy providers on how to effectively manage the expensive, high risk care and oncology medications they provide, while allowing for new technology implementation, safety improvement and regulatory compliance.

The HOPA Oncology Pharmacy Practice Management Program will examine how to provide a high level of clinical practice when patients require more and more, but front offices and third-party payers require it to be done with less and less. Oncology pharmacists, pharmacy managers, pharmacy directors, oncology residents, administrative residents and oncology business managers are encouraged to attend this exclusive program led by experts in the field of oncology pharmacy management.

This robust program will delve into several areas of pharmacy services and teach attendees how to navigate specific, day-to-day management challenges. Session topics include: collaborative drug therapy management, pharmacy dashboards, maximizing reimbursement, motivating employees and productivity models. Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to:

• Discuss methods to improve productivity and metrics that prove the value of oncology pharmacy practice

• Improve patient care and outcomes with collaborative drug therapy management

• Develop ways to improve patient outcomes through specialty pharmacy programs

• Describe ways to motivate your pharmacists to maximize opportunities to provide patient care

• Outline the process of coverage and reimbursement from the viewpoint of third-party payers

New this year, attendees will have the opportunity to register for the preconference workshop, Oncology Residency and Preceptor Program Development. Through both formal presentations and interactive smaller group discussions, the workshop will cover areas such as preceptor and resident development, program expansion, and preparation for an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) residency accreditation visit.
