Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes NIHA recent study suggests that living in low-income neighborhoods with limited food access during pregnancy may be associated with an increased risk of babies being born small for gestational age or with lower birthweights. Further research is needed to fully understand the relationship and to evaluate potential interventions improving food access during pregnancy and their impact on birth outcomes and child health.
