The PAD offers results in less than five minutes. Saint Mary's has applied for a U.S. patent for the device. Researchers from the schools are working together on other PADs that could ferret out other fake drugs that promise cures for everything from malaria to the flu. This could be huge for Third World countries where counterfeit drugs are rampant.
