The International Progressive MS Alliance has awarded its first round of 22 research grants to investigators in 9 countries, with the goal of removing barriers to developing treatments for progressive MS. The Alliance is a worldwide collaborative focused on finding solutions to progressive forms of multiple sclerosis that have so far eluded the scientific community.

Oceans of Hope was created by the Sailing Sclerosis Foundation to change perceptions of multiple sclerosis by showing what is possible when people with a chronic disease are empowered to conquer their individual challenges. The 20-meter yacht, Oceans of Hope< is undertaking the first global circumnavigation by a crew of people with MS.

On September 10-13 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, MA, ACTRIMS-ECTRIMS will host their joint triennial international meeting – MSBoston 2014, with over 8,000 participant from leading organizations in Europe, North America and other regions of the world convening to share, discuss and advance research in Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The meeting program will include topics as diverse as the underlying cause of MS, new emerging treatments and repair of the nervous system. MSBoston 2014 will provide journalists with an opportunity to hear about the latest advances in MS, speak with the leading experts, and interact with people living with MS who are also playing a major role in changing the perception of MS and enhancing understanding of this disease. Every three years ACTRIMS and ECTRIMS organize a joint meeting to encourage knowledge exchange and bring together MS professionals from around the world. The triennial joint meeting is alternately hosted in North America and Europe.

Oceans of Hope, a 20-metre yacht undertaking a global circumnavigation with a working crew including people living with MS, aims to change the perceptions of what it means to live with the disease. At the opening ceremony of MSBoston2014, on September 11th at 8:30 a.m., the crew led by Dr. Mikkel Anthonisen, will share a riveting video of their voyage, and speak of their extraordinary experiences during their transatlantic crossing.
