Newswise — MAYWOOD, IL—Nicole Wynn, DNP, RN-BC, manager of nursing excellence and Magnet program director at Loyola University Medical Center (LUMC), has been named to the 2021 American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) Young Professionals Class. The honor is part of AONL’s Young Professional Voices Program that “recognizes nurse leaders who exhibit significant potential as a health care leader and demonstrate exemplary leadership within their organization, community and the nursing profession.”
The 20 members of the 2021 class will be honored during next year’s AONL Annual Conference and are featured in the November/December issue of VOICE magazine.
Wynn is an assistant professor at the Loyola University Chicago Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing, and the director of LUMC’s Nursing Excellence and Magnet Program. Loyola University Medical Center has received three consecutive Magnet® designations (four years each) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Wynn is also overseeing the new food is medicine program at MacNeal Hospital, part of Loyola Medicine. Wynn and Jennifer Grenier, DNP, associate chief nursing officer at MacNeal Hospital, co-created the Program that targets food waste and food insecurity by donating excess food from hospital cafeterias to local non-profits that feed the hungry. The program, created in 2015, is now available at 25 hospitals throughout the U.S.
Wynn received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a master’s degree in nursing from DePaul University, and a doctorate in nursing practice from Rush University.
