Newswise — MAYWOOD, IL – Murali Rao, MD, DFAPA, FAPM, has been appointed to the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) Scientific Advisory Board (SAB). Dr. Rao is the chairperson for Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences for Loyola Medicine and Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine.

The SAB consists of individuals with outstanding clinical and scientific expertise that make a special contribution to advancing the DBSA mission of improving the lives of people living with mood disorders.

"I am honored to contribute to the body of science to advance treatment for those who suffer from psychiatric disorders, especially mood disorders," said Dr. Rao. "The issues are complex and diagnosis and treatment can be misunderstood by patients, families, employers, caregivers and clinicians alike."

The DBSA is guided by its Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), who also advises the Board of Directors in matters of science and medicine and is comprised of the leading researchers and clinicians in the field of mood disorders.
