The Wildlife Conservation Society and the Bauchi State Government are now partners in the management of Yankari Game Reserve, a key protected area in Nigeria containing one of the largest remaining populations of elephants in West Africa.
Covering an area 866 square miles in size, Yankari Game Reserve is home to an estimated 350 elephants, along with important populations of lion, buffalo, hippo, and other species.
