This screenshot, from an interactive Sky Viewer tool, shows a small region of the sky in the vicinity of the galaxy UGC 10041 imaged by the DECam Legacy Survey. Galaxies with known “redshifts,” a measure related to the distance of the galaxy, are labeled. The bar at the bottom shows the angular scale of the image. Users can zoom in and out and view images from other surveys using the buttons on the right. The DESI project will determine redshifts for many of the faint galaxies that can be seen in this field.
