When only chemotherapy drug doxorubicin (in red) is added, the transporter protein (in green), blocks the drug from entering the cells in these fluorescent images. However, when either the vitamin D metabolite, calcitriol, or its analog, calcipotriol, is added, doxorubicin, also referred as red devil, is transported into the cancer cells.
