Portraitist Peter Egeli was born in Miami in 1934 to a family of successful artists, studied painting at the Corcoran Art School, served in the U.S. Marines, then enrolled at what is now the Maryland Institute College of Art. Through the years, he has immortalized on canvas the most influential leaders in Johns Hopkins Medicine, Public Health, and now Nursing. In addition to Johns Hopkins, Egeli’s portraits are displayed at the Pentagon, many Fortune 500 boardrooms, and federal courthouses and cabinet offices.
