WV PEERS, a collaborative program between WVU and several community partners, uses peer recovery coaches to increase access to treatment for people who have substance use disorder. By taking into account the barriers to recovery that individuals face—such as hunger, unreliable childcare or lack of social support—the program made participants more likely to enter into and continue with treatment.
