Newswise — Cambridge, Mass. – For the fourth time in a row, Mount Auburn Hospital has earned an “A” grade for its continued commitment to patient safety in the Spring 2021 Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group. The ratings signify how well hospitals protect patients from preventable harm, including medical errors, injuries and infections within the hospital.

“Mount Auburn Hospital is deeply committed to improving the health of our patients in a safe and secure environment, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Jeanette Clough, President of Mount Auburn Hospital. “This award is a direct reflection of our clinicians’ and staff’s continued dedication to quality health care and we are so proud to receive another ‘A’ grade this spring.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades are determined with the guidance of an expert panel using 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data. Grades of A, B, C, D and F are assigned to more than 2,700 U.S. hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.

“An ‘A’ safety grade is an elite designation that your community should be proud of,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “The past year has been extraordinarily difficult for hospitals, but Mount Auburn Hospital shows us it is possible to keep a laser focus on patients and their safety, no matter what it takes.”
