Newswise — Harold Huffman, campus safety and security program manager for The University of Findlay's School of Environmental and Emergency Management (SEEM), is a nationally-consulted expert in the areas of preparedness, prevention, response and long-term recovery of educational-facility implemented violence from bullying to aggravated assault behaviors " all relevant issues in our state and nation.

In his current position at UF, Harold works with K-12 school systems, as well as colleges and universities across the United States, to develop and implement safety and security programs. These programs include focus areas such as physical security in and around buildings; school transportation security; the education and training of school employees, students and parents; and the prevention of school violence.

Huffman serves on the Ohio School Safety and Security Round Table and Technical Assistance Team, sponsored by the Ohio Department of Homeland Security. He is as a consultant to the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools and its Emergency Response and Crisis Management program, as well as the Federal Emergency Management Agency's School Security Response Team. Most recently, he was appointed to the Governor's Taskforce for campus security in collaboration with the Ohio Board of Regents to serve as a lead instructor to train all colleges and universities in Ohio on effective measures to enhance security and on the prevention of violent incidents. Since 1986, the School of Environmental and Emergency Management has provided education, training and information-transfer programs focusing on environmental, safety and occupational health issues as well as security management, terrorism and disaster preparedness. Since its inception, SEEM has trained more than 100,000 people coast-to-coast. In 2006 alone, SEEM trained 9,132 people, through offering 394 classes, at 216 different locations in 42 states and four foreign countries.
