Tim Weninger, assistant professor of computer science and engineering at the University of Notre Dame, is available to discuss social media targeting (including Facebook) with disinformation and fake news.

"To its credit, Facebook has removed signals that allow very small groups of 10 people or fewer to be specifically targeted,” Weninger said. “But the whole goal of Facebook, and other advertising platforms, is for advertisers to target specific groups. That's why advertising on these social platforms— where we all voluntarily give our demographic information, likes, dislikes, opinions and social circles — is so appealing to marketers. And that's why Facebook has such enormous revenue."

Weninger is an expert in web and social media, disinformation and fake news, data mining and machine learning.
