Newswise — New York University’s Taub Center for Israel Studies will host Israeli diplomat Yossi Beilin for “Between Oslo and Trump: A Review of the Peace Process,” a public lecture, on Tues., Feb. 11, 6 p.m. at NYU’s King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center, 53 Washington Square South, 1st Floor Screening Room [between Sullivan and Thompson Streets].
Beilin, a participant in the 1993 Oslo Accords, will analyze the recently unveiled Middle East peace plan, the issue of partial annexation of the West Bank, the viability of an Israeli-Palestinian confederation, and Israel’s March elections.
Beilin, who was deputy minister of foreign affairs under Shimon Peres and minister of justice and minister of religious affairs under Ehud Barak, represented both the Labor Party and the Meretz Party in Israel’s Knesset. A former soldier in the Israel Defense Forces, Beilin also served as the country’s director of the ministry of foreign affairs and deputy minister of finance in the 1980s.
