Newswise — MADISON, Wis., November 1, 2018 – More than 1,000 researchers and clinicians are expected to attend the Americas Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ACTRIMS) annual Forum Feb. 28-March 2, 2019, in Dallas, Texas.
Themed “Precision Medicine Approaches for MS: Scientific Principles to Clinical Application,” this CME-accredited meeting stands apart from many traditional medical meetings by offering a single track of scientific and clinical presentations in an interactive environment. Young investigators are selected for platform presentations based on submitted abstracts. A record number of abstracts were received during the regular abstract submission period, setting the stage for more than 300 posters to share investigative results.
The Forum also features the Kenneth P. Johnson Memorial Lecture, which will be delivered by Rhonda Voskuhl, M.D., University of California, Los Angeles. Her talk is titled, “Tailored Disability-Specific Neuroprotective Treatment Development in MS.”
The 2019 Forum will again include the presentation of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s annual Barancik Prize. The prize recognizes an exceptional scientist or a team of scientists whose work in MS research has demonstrated outstanding innovation and originality. The annual prize, made possible by the Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation, is $100,000 to be used at the discretion of the recipient.
