Newswise — Princeton University Professor Elke Weber will deliver “ ‘Risk as Feelings’ and ‘Perception Matters’: Assembling Human Preferences One Psychological Process at a Time,” NYU ISDM’s Annual Dean for Science Lecture in Neuroeconomics, on Mon., Feb. 4, 5-6:30 p.m. at NYU’s Kimmel Center for University Life, Rosenthal Pavilion (60 Washington Square South [at LaGuardia Place], 10th floor).
In her lecture, Weber, Gerhard R. Andlinger Professor in Energy and the Environment and Professor of Psychology and Public Affairs at Princeton, will consider how people—from citizens and consumers to policymakers and managers—make decisions.
While rational models of economics tell us how we ought to make certain decisions, human behavior does not always follow suit. Weber will unravel these behavioral and psychological puzzles and outline how we can achieve long-term goals ranging from pension savings and addressing eating disorders to climate change action.
