Susan Michaelis, Ph.D., is a professor of cell biology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her research on yeast mating led her to figure out what goes wrong in the cells of patients with progeria, which then led to the first clinical trial of a drug that improved some of their symptoms.
