Proton Therapy Experts Convene in New Orleans and via Live Streaming; Focusing on Advancements in Quality, Value and Access Worldwide

Newswise — WASHINGTON, Jan. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Over 200 proton therapy experts will attend the 2016 National Proton Conference (NPC) January 19-22 at The Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana while many others will attend simultaneously via Live Streaming. This is the first time the National Association for Proton Therapy (NAPT) will offer both in-person and live streaming to attendees who include physicians, nurses, physicists, dosimetrists, therapists, and proton center directors and managers.

"This is the first year for the NPC at a new location and we are very excited to be hosting the meeting in New Orleans. The live broadcast is also great new option. Sessions examining a wide variety of proton therapy topics will be provided by over 30 speakers, with featured Keynote Addresses by Dr. Stephen Hahn of the MD Anderson Cancer Center and Wendell Potter of the Center for Public Integrity. Other sessions during the conference will cover: Legislative and Regulatory Efforts on Proton Therapy; Overview of a Consortium Model Approach; Coding, Coverage and Payment; Access to Care: The Patient Legal Advocate's Perspective; Development in Proton Therapy Research; Clinical & Technological Advances in Proton Therapy; Proton Therapy: A Global Perspective; Mobilizing the Patient Community; Revenue Cycle Best Practices; Operational Best Practices; Access to Proton Beam Therapy; and an Overview of the 2015 Published Proton Therapy Evidence. NAPT has applied for continuing medical education credits for attendees.

The NPC is supported through partnership with Mevion Medical Systems and Ion Beam Applications S.A. (IBA) and 20 exhibitors.
