Newswise — WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 31, 2016 - B-Line Medical®, an industry leader in video-driven healthcare education and outcome improvement, is excited to support fundamentals of robotic surgery by providing cloud-based video, assessment, and reporting for a global research project.

B-Line Medical had a unique opportunity to partner with the Institute of Surgical Excellence. The purpose of this initiative was to develop a basic curriculum to teach surgical skills for robotic surgery across a wide array of surgical sub-specialties, while capturing movements using B-Line Medical SimCapture Ultraportable units.

The results gathered thus far from the 14 domestic and international institutions were captured and consolidated over disparate networks to a centralized, cloud-based server provided by B-Line Medical in the United States, resulting in unprecedented uniformity of capture and analysis. SimCapture Ultraportable is a compact, all-inclusive audiovisual solution build on SimCapture’s robust assessment and reporting platform. B-Line Medical provided instructional design, system training, and ongoing technical support for the FRS trial study.

President of B-Line Medical, Hartley Thompson, says, “It was a pleasure to work with the Institute of Surgical Excellence to assist in the development of their FRS validation study. It was unique to see how SimCapture Ultraportable units captured and synchronized the robotic surgeon’s hand movements, foot movements, and operative field on unique simulators. I am excited to see the final curriculum and results.”
