Newswise — New Brunswick, N.J., February 5, 2018 – Several physicians at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey have earned recognition as a ‘Top Doctor for Women’s Health’ by Inside Jersey magazine, which recently released its annual listing.

Thousands of physicians and other healthcare professionals from across the state were asked to take part in the nomination process, resulting in the selection of 326 doctors for this year’s honor. Under the direction of Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., which publishes America’s Top Doctors, these peer nominations are reviewed and assessed by a physician-led research team.  Attributes considered include board certification, medical education, training, hospital appointments, years in practice and professional achievements.

“Second only to heart disease, cancer is a leading cause of death for women in the U.S., with breast, lung and colorectal being the three most frequently diagnosed cancers. With that, it is imperative that cancer care be tailored to a woman’s specific needs. At Rutgers Cancer Institute our cancer specialists develop personalized treatment plans to help patients remain close to home. We are humbled to be recognized by our colleagues with this honor,” notes Rutgers Cancer Institute Director Steven K. Libutti, MD, FACS, who is also senior vice president, oncology services at RWJBarnabas Health and vice chancellor for cancer programs for Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences.
