New Brunswick, N.J. (Sept. 19, 2018) – Rutgers Professor Frank A. Felder is available to comment on the future of nuclear energy in New Jersey following the shutdown this week of the Oyster Creek nuclear power plant in Lacey, New Jersey, after nearly 50 years of service.

“The shutdown of Oyster Creek does not close the door on nuclear power in New Jersey, but the state will have to make some hard decisions over the next several years and decades regarding the long-term viability of nuclear power given its economic and environmental implications,” said Felder, a research professor and director of the Center for Energy, Economic & Environmental Policy at Rutgers University–New Brunswick.

Felder, a former nuclear engineer in the U.S. Navy who works in the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, is an expert on energy policy and electricity markets.
