Newswise — Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) announced that Paula Rosput Reynolds will become chair of its Board of Directors. Reynolds takes the helm of the SCCA board from Karen Glover, who served as chair since 2018.

“We are delighted to welcome Paula as our board chair, and thank Kari for her important service in this role,” said Nancy Davidson, MD, President and Executive Director of SCCA. “Kari became chair of our board during a critical era in SCCA’s growth.  She saw our organization through many changes as well as the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, and we are grateful to her for her contributions. Paula has the experience and skills to help SCCA continue to build upon the momentum that Kari helped us to establish and expand the many ways we drive innovations in cancer research and care and support patients across this region and throughout the nation.”

Reynolds, who currently serves as CEO of Preferwest, LLC, was appointed to SCCA’s Board of Directors in 2018. An experienced board member, she is a past chair and trustee on the Fred Hutch Board of Trustees and serves as a board member of several public companies in the United States and the United Kingdom. In 2014, Reynolds was named Public Company Director of the Year by the National Association of Corporate Directors Northwest Chapter. She also was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the national level in the same year. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Wellesley College.

Reynolds’ previous positions include Chair, President and CEO of Safeco Corporation (Fortune 500 property and casualty insurance company that in 2008 was acquired by Liberty Mutual Insurance Group); Vice Chair and Chief Restructuring Officer for American International Group; and Chair, President and CEO of AGL Resources Inc. (operator of natural gas infrastructure in the U.S.). She also led a subsidiary of Duke Energy Corporation (merchant operator of electricity generation).

Glover has served on the SCCA board of directors since 2014. Under her leadership, SCCA established itself as a leading cancer care center in the state of Washington providing state-of-the-art patient centered care through advanced clinical trial treatment options and locations of services. She has provided Board leadership oversight for launching a major expansion of SCCA’s clinic at South Lake Union, which will allow the organization to serve more cancer patients and add to the treatments and services it provides. She also helped to establish SCCA’s critical path during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring that important milestones were achieved that would allow the organization to continue to serve patients while preventing the spread of infection.
