Maywood, IL– Loyola Medicine President and CEO Shawn P. Vincent has been named to Crain's Chicago Business' 2020 "Notable Veteran Executives" list. Loyola Medicine's academic health system includes Loyola University Medical Center, Gottlieb Memorial Hospital and MacNeal Hospital.
Vincent served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the 2nd Marine Division. He ranked among the top 10% of the Fleet Marine Force for proficiency and conduct and was promoted meritoriously twice during his tenure.
"It is an honor and a privilege to have served in the armed forces and I am humbled to be named among my fellow servicemen and servicewomen," said Vincent. In 1989, Vincent sustained service-connected injuries which led to his honorable discharge. Vincent volunteers with veteran organizations and directly mentors men and woman who are transitioning to the civilian workforce, with a particular focus on those who have suffered a disability during service. "This can be a very difficult transition, in particular for those with the additional challenge of a life-altering injury," said Vincent. Vincent has also served on the board of directors for The Warrior Alliance, an organization with a mission to help veterans transfer military occupational skills and licensing to equivalent civilian opportunities.
Vincent joined Loyola Medicine in 2018. Since then, he has been credited with achieving one of the best financial performances among Trinity Health hospitals, increasing minimum wage for Loyola Medicine employees, and tripling funds raised through Loyola Medicine philanthropic programs. Under Vincent's leadership, Loyola University Medical Center moved to up to ranking 4th among Illinois hospitals in the 2020-21 U.S News & World Report's Best Hospital's list.
