Newswise — Article title: Sex differences in integrated neuro-cardiovascular control of blood pressure following acute intermittent hypercapnic-hypoxia

Authors:Dain W. Jacob, Elizabeth P. Ott, Sarah E. Baker, Zachariah M. Scruggs, Clayton L. Ivie, Jennifer L. Harper, Camila M. Manrique-Acevedo, Jaqueline K. Limberg

From the authors: “Our results support sex-related differences in the effect of [intermittent hypoxia] on neurovascular control of [blood pressure] and show any [blood pressure]-raising effects of [intermittent hypoxia] are absent in young women. These data enhance our understanding of sex-specific mechanisms which may contribute to [blood pressure] changes in sleep apnea.”

This study is highlighted as one of November’s "best of the best" as part of the American Physiological Society's APSselect program.
