Newswise — October 16, 2018 ― Manahawkin, NJ ― Women of southern Ocean County can once again treat themselves to an evening devoted to their personal health and well-being during Hackensack Meridian Health Southern Ocean Medical Center’s 27th Annual Women’s Health Night. On Wednesday, October 24, 2018, the free event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the first floor of the hospital in Manahawkin.

This year’s highlights will include a host of community resources, health screenings, interactive displays, and informative lectures by Southern Ocean Medical Center physicians and the opportunity to shop local vendors. Light refreshments, giveaways and door prizes will be offered.

On-the-spot health screenings will include balance, blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, bone densitometry, pulmonary function, sleep apnea, foot, and head/neck cancer screening. Bring your medications and learn about their common uses, side-effects and interactions with other prescriptions and oral remedies. The Ocean County Department of Health will be on-site to offer seasonal flu vaccines Influenza and Pneumonia vaccines are free if enrolled in Medicate Part B ($20 if not enrolled.)  Bring your Medicare card for verification.   

Beginning at 6:00 p.m., informative lectures about women’s health from some of Southern Ocean’s expert physicians will be featured. Dr. Lynn Bezpalko will discuss hearing problems and treatments at 6:00 p.m., followed by Dr. Evan Taylor who will talk about what you need to know about nutrition and cancer. Finally at 7:00 p.m., Dr. Yolanda Tammaro will give expert advice for breast cancer - the risks, myths and screening techniques.
