State Street Global Advisors Forms Partnership With Boston College Graduate School of Management

BOSTON, Mass. -- State Street Global Advisors (SSgA), the third largest investment manager in the country, has announced a strategic partnership with the Boston College Graduate School of Management. Graduate business and finance students will get career training, and SSgA can seek high-potential investment professionals through this partnership.

Under the program, called SSgA Executive Fellows, two graduate business students from the Wallace E. Carroll School of Management will join SSgA each summer to gain experience in investment management, research and financial-services marketing and sales. "This program is a perfect way to keep students connected with the ever-changing world of the investment business," said Nick Lopardo, chairman and chief executive officer of SSgA. "It's also a perfect chance for us to channel some of the best and the brightest into our investment talent pool here at SSgA."

Graduate business students Venkat Chalasani and Timothy B. Flatt have worked with SSgA this summer. SSgA also has placed two other Master of Business Administration students in summer employment positions. Chalasani, a first-year MBA student, has worked with the special investors group at SSgA. The office is run by Charles E. Babin, a Carroll Graduate School of Management alumnus who spearheaded the project. Flatt, a Master of Science in Finance student, has worked with investment professionals in State Street Global Alliance. John Snow heads the unit, which develops innovative direct non-U.S. investment initiatives.

"We are delighted that a firm of SSgA's stature has taken the lead in joining our initiative to provide the best-trained executives for the financial services industry," said Dr. Hassell McClellan, graduate dean of the Carroll School of Management. "Developing such relationships is part of our strategy of expanding career opportunities for our graduates and positioning ourselves as a leader among top business schools."

SSgA, the investment management group of State Street, uses quantitative and traditional techniques to manage more than $350 billion in investment programs and portfolios for institutional and individual investors. In addition to Boston, SSgA has full investment operations in London, Paris, Montreal, Sydney, Hong Kong and Tokyo. It also has offices in Toronto, Brussels, Copenhagen, Munich, Dubai, San Francisco, Atlanta and Montpellier, France.

State Street is a leading servicer of institutional assets worldwide. In addition to the assets it manages, State Street is custodian for more than $3 trillion.
