The ECHO Act (S. 2873) was originally introduced by Senators Orrin Hatch (R-UT) and Brian Schatz (D-UT) in April 2016. The bill seeks to expand the use of health care technology and programming to connect underserved communities and populations with critical health care services. The bipartisan bill passed the Senate and the House and is currently awaiting President Obama's signature.
