Healthy You: Surviving a Pandemic features prominent public health experts, medical professionals, health policy experts, and journalists who discuss their work and experiences on a broad range of topics related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Guests have included National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci, MD, CNN Senior Editor Maggie Fox, CNN Medical Analyst Leana Wen, MD, and many other leaders in health and medicine.  Moderated by Frank Sesno, the podcast and its guests reflect on how the pandemic has changed life as we know it and discuss how COVID-19 has affected their work and lives.

“This podcast is a compelling and accessible way to share the stories, lessons, and expertise that the health community and the public alike need to survive and learn from the pandemic. I'm delighted that we are teaming up with these terrific organizations to leverage their knowledge, network, and commitment to public health,” said Frank Sesno host and Director of Strategic Initiatives at the GW School of Media and Public Affairs.  “Our goal is to inform and inspire."

The American Public Health Association has been championing the health of all communities for 150 years and is a science-based organization and a broad-based member community with an ability to influence federal policy to improve the public’s health.

“The tragedy of the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the weaknesses within the public health system and raised the importance of effective public communications,” said Georges C. Benjamin, MD, executive director of the American Public Health Association. “We are pleased to partner with George Washington University and the de Beaumont Foundation on the podcast series Healthy You: Surviving a Pandemic as a way to amplify the voices of trusted messengers at a time when they are desperately needed.”

Founded in 1998, the de Beaumont Foundation creates and invests in bold solutions that improve the health of communities across the country. The foundation advances policy, builds partnerships, and strengthens public health to create communities where people can achieve their best possible health.

“The public health community needs to do a better job telling its stories,” said Brian C. Castrucci, DrPH, president and CEO of the de Beaumont Foundation. “We are proud to join the George Washington University and the American Public Health Association to make the important work of public health professionals relevant and interesting for a much wider audience.”
