Jeopardy host Alex Trebek recently announced that he has been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
Rajkumar Lakshmanaswamy, Ph.D, scientific director of the Center of Emphasis in Cancer at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso, is available to discuss research advancements being made to treat the disease.
Lakshmanaswamy's laboratory studies the physiological and molecular mechanisms involved in cancer prevention and progression. The lab's specific focus is on breast and pancreatic cancer. Researchers at the lab have successfully identified active compounds, which exhibit potent anticancer activities against both breast and pancreatic cancers, and are in the process of translating these experimental results into potential pre-clinical studies.
