Newswise — Twenty-seven Loyola Medicine physicians have been named to Chicago magazine's 2019 list of "Chicago's Top Cancer Doctors."

The annual list of Top Cancer Doctors can be found in Chicago magazine's October 2019 issue and online.

Loyola Medicine is nationally recognized for its expert team of highly trained cancer doctors who come from a wide variety of clinical areas. These multidisciplinary specialists provide the expertise, translational research experience and compassionate care needed to diagnose and treat cancer. They work together, taking a collaborative approach to cancer care.

The annual Top Cancer Doctors issue also features local breakthroughs in cancer treatment, including Loyola's innovative CAR T-Cell therapy treatment for leukemia and lymphoma. Patrick Stiff, MD, director of hematology and oncology at Loyola University Medical Center, participated in a momentous 2017 study that led to FDA approval of CAR T-Cell therapy for pediatric leukemia and adult lymphoma patients. Stiff and his team are now working to produce CAR T-cells in Loyola's laboratory and are the first cancer center in Illinois to produce these cells onsite.

The group's process for selecting the top doctors includes reviewing peer nominations, extensive research and careful review and screening by a physician-directed research team. Physicians are not able to nominate themselves or pay to be featured on the list.
