UCLA Expert available for comment on public health issues tied to brushfires and climate change

David Eisenman, MD, is a professor with the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health and director of the affiliated Center for Public Health and Disasters, which studies public health planning and response to natural and human-generated disasters, including climate change. Dr. Eisenman has worked widely in this area, including (for example) research in the aftermath of the California wildfires of 2017-2019, extreme heat events,, and disaster planning with a focus on medical and public health services. Along with teaching at both Fielding and the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, he is a preparedness science officer for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and a lead scientist on the Los Angeles County Community Disaster Resilience Project (LACCDR).
