Experts at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health are available to discuss the results of the midterm elections in California and nationally.
Gerald Kominski, PhD, is professor of health policy and management at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health and a senior fellow at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research. Dr. Kominski’s research focuses on evaluating the costs and financing of public insurance programs, including Medicare, Medicaid and Workers’ Compensation. He led the team at UCLA that developed the UCLA/UC Berkeley CalSIM microsimulation model that Covered California used for estimating the impacts of health reform in California. Since 2010, he has evaluated the expected and actual impacts of health care reform under the Affordable Care Act.
Jack Needleman, PhD, is the Fred W. and Pamela K. Wasserman Professor and Chair of the Department of Health Policy and Management at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. Dr. Needleman’s research focuses on the impact of changing markets and public policy on quality and access to care, and health care provider and insurer responses to market and regulatory incentives. He has training in health economics and political science and has taught health policy and health care politics at UCLA.
