Newswise — As tuition and student debt increase nationally, discussions regarding the value of a college degree, how students should gauge their college payoffs and how to adequately prepare students for the work force become more relevant than ever before.
The University of Utah Honors College addresses these concerns by providing a small-college feel within a large research university and providing students with opportunities to take their knowledge beyond the classroom in preparation for their careers. The Honors College offers Praxis Labs, which are year-long, project-based courses that combine theory with action and exist to engage students with the community. Books have been published, nonprofits have been created and university-wide courses have originated from these Praxis Labs.
On Wednesday, June 8 and Thursday, June 9 U Honors College Dean Sylvia Torti will be in Southern California for two alumni gathering and student recruitment events. Torti can be reached by media to discuss the value of a college degree, deeply-engaged learning experiences for undergraduates and providing students with unique, hands-on experiences through Praxis Labs, which are year-long, project-based courses at the U's Honors College.
