Newswise — The economic impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on workers in Oregon were swift and deep. Economic impacts have been felt unequally across the economy, with many sectors thriving during the pandemic while others— particularly leisure and hospitality—experiencing widespread job losses. Analysis by Robert Parker and Benjamin Y. Clark, both with the University of Oregon’s School of Planning, Public Policy & Management, shows that 27 percent of Oregonians reported a change in employment status during the pandemic. Eleven percent of employed Oregonians lost their job, five percent quit, and a little more than two percent retired. Moreover, 26 percent of Oregon workers indicated they were considering quitting their job despite 75 percent indicating they were very or somewhat satisfied with their current employment situation.
