Newswise — Chicago, IL (August 2, 2016): Explore significant research developments and treatment advances relevant to oncology pharmacists presented at the ASCO Annual Meeting at the Updates from the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting webinar on September 29, 2016, from 12:00 – 1:00 pm CST. This is the final live presentation in the 2016 Emerging Issues in Oncology Webinar Series for Board Certified Oncology Pharmacy recertification opportunities presented by the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA).

Selected topics will feature: • innovations in therapies for hematologic malignancies and solid tumors • supportive care interventions • survivorship care for children with cancer

Updates from ASCO will feature two presenters. Dr. Joseph Bubalo, PharmD BCPS BCOP, is an oncology pharmacotherapy specialist with Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and an Assistant Professor of Medicine with the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology. He has been active in the clinical care of oncology and HSCT patients for over 20 years and has received research grants investigating ways to improve the control of nausea and vomiting as well as a variety of other topics in supportive care and infectious disease.

Dr. Jocelyn Mohs, PharmD BCOP, is the Oncology/Specialty Clinical Pharmacist at the St. Cloud VA Health Care System in St. Cloud, Minnesota. She completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2008 at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr. Mohs went on to complete a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota and a PGY2 Oncology Specialty Residency at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview in Minneapolis and Maple Grove, Minnesota.

The Emerging Issues in Oncology Webinars series is part of the new educational programming HOPA has made available to help pharmacists fulfill their BCOP recertification needs. The five webinars presented throughout the year review key findings from clinical and translational research, and data presented at national oncology meetings.
