As Tennessee faces its first competitive Senate race in more than a decade, Vanderbilt political scientists are available to discuss the stakes of the race, as well as the nuances of Tennessee politics.

John Geer, is the Gertrude Conaway Vanderbilt Professor of Political Science and co-director of the Vanderbilt Poll. Since 2011, the Vanderbilt Poll has surveyed Tennessee voters on a wide variety of state and national issues, and is one of the most authoritative sources for public opinion in the state. Geer is also an expert on political campaign advertising and spending.

Bruce Oppenheimer, professor of political science, has studied Congress for half a century, and is deeply familiar both with Tennessee’s politics as well as national trends. Oppenheimer is the co-editor of the influential Congress Reconsidered, an anthology of Congressional scholarship now in its 11th edition.
