Newswise — Smithsonian curator Antonio Curet studies the vast collections from Latin America and the Caribbean at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian to develop exhibits that tell the rich histories of these indigenous cultures. He is leading a field project in Puerto Rico to study the human impact in the local environment from the earliest settlers—4,000 B.C. to the present. Curet’s work supports the Smithsonian’s efforts to increase the Latino presence within its museums, collections, research and programs.
