Newswise — Singapore, 29 April 2015  The National University of Singapore (NUS) has been placed among the world’s 10 best universities for 11 subjects across disciplines in Architecture/Built Environment, Engineering, Science, and the Social Sciences, according to the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject. The University is also Asia’s best across 21 subjects, up from 18 subjects last year.

The annual subject rankings, believed to be the largest of its kind, are based on surveyed opinions of 85,062 academics and 41,910 employers, alongside analysis of 17.3 million research papers and over 100 million citations.

This year, QS introduced six new subjects to the rankings, bringing the total number of individual disciplines to 36. The new subjects are: Architecture/Built Environment, Art & Design, Dentistry, Business & Management Studies, Development Studies and Veterinary Science.

NUS was ranked in 31 of the 36 subjects relevant to the university, making the top 50 worldwide for a total of 30 subjects. NUS is also the best-performing Asian university, topping the list of universities outside the UK and US with the most number of subjects placed in the top 10 ranking.

Four NUS Engineering specialisations were listed among the world’s top 10, with the highest spots for Civil & Structural Engineering (3rd) and Chemical Engineering (5th).
