When You Run an Award Winning Children’s Mentoring Program… Being a Comedian is Next!

Newswise — SOUTH BRONX, NY, October 15, 2015—Michael Goodhope, the coordinator of an award-winning South Bronx mentoring program, is the featured comedian at the fall “Gospel Comedy and Music Extravaganza” taking place on Saturday October 17th from 4:30 to 8:00 pm at the Lehman College Studio Theatre, 250 Bedford Park Boulevard West in the Bronx.

Known as Mikey Gee in his life as a comedian, Mr. Goodhope has appeared at more than 300 events across the United States, with Saturday’s Bronx extravaganza bringing him back to what he considers the best audience---Bronx families.

Mr. Goodhope developed into a top gospel comedian during the years that he has directed Kids-Helping-Kids, a mentoring program started by Heath People, a groundbreaking community health education and support program in the South Bronx. Kids-Helping-Kids focuses on giving extra support to children and teens with sick or missing parents.

“I look at the two going together,” states Mr. Goodhope. “In my comedy, I want to make people smile, forget about their problems and laugh in the spirit. As the leader of a mentoring program, I want the children to follow their dreams, and explore their gifts and potential.”

Other featured performers at the Gospel Comedy and Music Extravaganza include Lagee’s Rhythm and Bible, Racquel Nicole Jete, and The Piano Man Izaiyah Jullian. Tickets are $20 at the door and include the full evening of comedy and music. Mr. Gee’s goes on at 5:30 pm and he will perform again from 6:20 to 6:50 pm. The Lehman College Studio Theatre is easily reached on the #4 or B/D trains.
