Newswise — NEW YORK, March 23 2016 -- CareGiving.com and Caregiver Monday are partnering to host a series of free online chats for individuals who care for or have cared for a family member or friend with a chronic illness, disease, disability or frailty. The Caring Lunch Hour Chat debuts on Monday, March 28th and will occur on a weekly basis every Monday starting at 11 a.m. ET to 3 p.m. ET.

Caring for a family member can be a lonely, isolating experience. It's hard to find help and it can be difficult to meet another individual who understands the roller coaster practice of being a caregiver. According to research conducted in 2015 by CareGiving.com of its members and visitors, 45 percent of survey respondents say they receive no help from other family members. Only 5 percent of survey respondents in our 2015 Annual Family Caregiver Survey say caregiving is not stressful.

Throughout the Caring Lunch Chat Hour, participants can connect with others who understand the challenges and stresses of caregiving. Members of CareGiving.com who care for or cared for a family member will be available in the chat room to lend an ear, as well as offer suggestions and resources.

“We hope having a place to vent and share on Mondays will relieve some of the stress family caregivers feel,” said Denise Brown, CareGiving.com owner and operator. “We know how busy family caregivers are so we hope they'll be able to take a few moments during their lunch hour every Monday to join us.”

CareGiving.com determined Monday as the best day for a chat because research by Caregiver Monday shows that Monday is the day when people are receptive to health messages and are more likely to start a healthier habit, like dieting, exercising, stop smoking, or call their doctor for an appointment.

“Day in and day out, millions of caregivers give so much of themselves caring for their loved ones that they often neglect their own health and well-being,” says Sid Lerner, founder & chairman, The Monday Campaigns. “Our initiative Caregiver Monday encourages them to use that first day of each hectic week as their refresh day to better serve their dependent parent, child or spouse.”
