Newswise — The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center brings its signature Making Cancer History® seminar to Austin, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center, 1900 University Ave. Renowned experts from the nation’s No. 1 cancer center will share the most recent developments in cancer research and care as well as healthy lifestyle tips to reduce cancer risk.
The free seminar is open to the public and includes lunch. Doors open at 11 a.m.
Presentations will feature: • Ronald DePinho, M.D., president of MD Anderson • Joxel Garcia, M.D., executive director, Cancer Prevention and Control Platform, and former U.S. Assistant Secretary of Health • Jeffrey Molldrem, M.D., professor, Stem Cell Transplantation • Therese Bevers, M.D., professor, Clinical Cancer Prevention
A question-and-answer session will follow the presentations.
MD Anderson is the nation’s top hospital for cancer care, earning the No. 1 ranking in U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals” survey 11 times in 14 years.
Since opening in March 1944, more than 1 million people have sought treatment at MD Anderson, including more than 20,600 Austinites. The MD Anderson Cancer Center Board of Visitors, which provides leadership and support for MD Anderson, includes seven members from Austin.
