Newswise — David Knuff, Ph.D., has been promoted to assistant dean of External Relations for The Paul Merage School of Business at UC Irvine, effective July 1. In this newly-created role, Knuff will be tasked with aligning outreach and program offerings with a customer-centric focus.

“As we make progress toward achieving our strategic goals, we have realigned our External Relations operations to better reflect the growing number of opportunities for the School to engage with the business community,” said Eric Spangenberg, dean of the Merage School. “I am very pleased that David has accepted the leadership responsibility for this effort as he will be instrumental in designing and operationalizing a more united process, tailoring the Merage School’s efforts to the needs of community members.”

Knuff joined the Merage School in 2014 as assistant dean and executive director for the school’s Executive Education program. Previously, Knuff served as the director of the MBA program at Washington State University. He is an award-winning educator internationally, teaching both domestically and serving as a visiting scholar in several countries in Europe and the Middle East.

“Having grown up in Orange County, it is nice to be back ‘home’ and working for a top ranked, premier business school to create interaction opportunities between the university and the business community,” said Knuff.“David’s forte is in team building, and developing and supporting the working relationships that drive success. His experience will be instrumental in this new role,” said Spangenberg. Knuff holds a Ph.D. in marketing from Washington State University. Prior to his academic career, he created management solutions and worked in sales and marketing roles for Orange County companies such as Oakley and Crown Lift Trucks. Further, Knuff has extensive international experience—building and maintaining relationships abroad—this year he has brought several global partners in varying numbers and levels of study to the Merage School campus.
