Newswise — PARK RIDGE, ILL. - Kathryn Jansky, MHS, CRNA, APRN, USA, LTC(ret), a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), and resident of Lone Tree, Colo., takes office as the 2016-17 vice president of the 50,000-member American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA), during the AANA Nurse Anesthesia Annual Congress, September 9-13, 2016 in Washington, D.C. Jansky will serve a one-year term.

"The future of our organization hinges on our ability to meet the needs of CRNA members in their daily work of providing safe, cost-effective anesthesia care to each and every patient they encounter,” said Jansky. “Our purpose is to provide members with the educational framework, professional resources, insurance and advocacy that allow them to make patient care excellence their first priority."

Jansky is a CRNA and retired U.S. Army veteran, and has long been active in the nurse anesthesia profession at both state and national levels. She has served on various committees, with a passion for both advocacy and education. She is currently employed in an all-CRNA practice at Madison Street Surgery Center, Denver, Colo.

A CRNA for nearly 30 years, Jansky graduated from the U.S. Army School of Anesthesia for Nurse Corps Officers, with a master’s degree from Texas Wesleyan University, Fort Worth; and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
