Newswise — PARK RIDGE, ILLINOIS – Randall D. Moore II, DNP, CRNA, a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), and resident of Springfield, Ill., takes office as the 2016-17 treasurer of the 50,000-member American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) during the AANA Nurse Anesthesia Annual Congress, September 9-13, 2016, in Washington, D.C. Moore will serve a one-year term.

“The treasurer’s role is multi-faceted, with a focus on the fiscal health of our organization,” says Moore. “Throughout our history, our successes have depended on having the funds available to meet external challenges to our profession as they arise.”

Moore is currently the director of perioperative and anesthesia services at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, Ill. He has been active on both the state and national levels as a member of the Illinois Association of Nurse Anesthetists and AANA boards of directors, committees and task forces.

As a veteran, Moore’s service in the U.S. Army has allowed him to serve his country as a CRNA in Army hospitals throughout the country as well as combat zones in Afghanistan with a forward surgical team.

His accomplishments in the nurse anesthesia profession include implementing protocols, leadership and educational programs, while working to improve patient safety and clinician savoir-faire. Moore is currently responsible for the direction of clinical and administrative operations for surgery, anesthesia, ambulatory, preadmission, post-anesthesia care, and central sterile departments with more than 100 full-time employees at Passavant Area Hospital.

Moore received his BSN from Northern Illinois University, Dekalb, Ill.; his MSN in Nurse Administered Anesthesia from Bradley University, Peoria, Ill.; his MBA from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale; and his DNP from the University of Alabama, Birmingham.
